FLIGHT TRAINING
multi engine piston rating
The Multi Engine Piston (MEP) rating allows you to fly any twin piston engine aircraft. This course is aimed at those who wish to fly professionally, but we have many pilots who wish to extend their range and skills and therefore opt for the multi-engine rating.
The course comprises of 6 hours flight training. 2.5 hours of this is general handling, and the remaining 3.5 hours involve single engine (asymmetric) handling and all types of emergencies. The course also includes 7 hours of ground school and one theory exam.
We offer the course as a package but also have pay-as-you-go options available.
Our multi-engine course is completed in our 2x DA42 aircraft.
Many of our students complete the MEP rating as part of our modular flowchart. More information on that can be found here.

As a modular school, you can commit as much or as little time as you wish towards your training. We have many students who fly up to five or six times per week, and many who fly once or twice per week. The more time you can commit, the quicker you will be able complete your training. Average course durations are listed in each course section. All flight training is subject to weather as well as aircraft maintenance requirements, so course durations are just estimates.

At the end of your MEP course you will be recommended by your instructor to take the MEP test. As discussed above, the time at which you are ready for this varies between students. As you do not have to pay for your instructor, the skill test is billed seperate. You will be required to pay a private hire hourly rate for the aircraft, and the examiner directly. Please contact us for all of our hourly rates.

Yes! Although the vast majority of our students complete their MEP during their route to CPL MEIR, you can complete this course on it’s own without the intention of progressing further, such as onto an MEIR or CPL. However, you must meet all pre-entry requirements.
