FLIGHT TRAINING
COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE (CPL)
The Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is the last stage of your modular training with Blackbushe. It is the licence required for your professional flying career.
The course consists of similar training that you’d receive during your PPL, including VFR navigation and general handling. For our students who hold an instrument qualification, such as those following our modular flowchart, the CPL course is 15 hours. If you do not have an instrument qualification, you will require a full 25-hour course of training. Please contact us for the price.
The course can be undertaken in either a multi-engine or single-engine aircraft. Many of our students opt to complete their CPL in the single-engine, but we do offer the CPL in the multi-engine.
Many of our students complete the CPL as part of our modular flowchart. More information on that can be found here.

frequently asked questions
-
As a modular school, you can commit as much or as little time as you wish towards your training. We have many students who fly up to five or six times per week, and many who fly once or twice per week. The more time you can commit, the quicker you will be able complete your training. Average course durations are listed in each course section. All flight training is subject to weather as well as aircraft maintenance requirements, so course durations are just estimates.
-
The vast majority of our students complete a 15-hour CPL course. This is becuase they hold a Basic Instrument Flight Module (BIFM) completion certificate, or a valid IR(A). However, if you do not have either of these, you can still do your CPL, it will just be a 25-hour course. Most of our students leave the CPL until last so they have the credit to allow them to do a 15-hour course.
-
As discussed above, the CPL is generally the last course our students complete, after the IR.

If you already hold an ICAO CPL, please see our licence conversion page for next steps.
